Product Manager

The Product Manager will work proactively toward the sales growth of products manufactured by Emerson Inc. for the products represented exclusively in our territory as well as all product offerings by the John H Carter Company. The Product Manager will gain a working knowledge and understanding of the products in order to become the subject matter expert (SME), that customers and all other company staff will call upon for product consultation including Application Engineering and Services. The Product Manager will help understand customers’ needs and offer solutions using the products we offer and/or represent. Oversee and steward the business to ensure it is profitable and meets the growth directives established by the executive management team. Develop and execute business planning strategies, forecast, and schedules as required by JHC. Establishes goals, improves technologies, and resolves problems in conjunction with sub-ordinate managers and managers of other Business Units. Support/Drive the Account Management Team to deliver company initiatives and growth goals. Be the liaison with the factory and execute/manage all sales forecasting, training, business development, and other requirements requested by said factory/representative. Maintains a working knowledge of governmental and industry recognized codes & standards. This includes development of written practices in concert with the Quality Assurance Manager that comply with ASME, NBBI, ASNT, AGA, NIST, API, ASTM, and other industrial standards, and customer requirements. Supports JHC accounting department with problem invoices and general customer account information, customer facing. Works closely with and supports the JHC product principals when required to do so. Travels when required and applicable. Education and/or Work Experience Technical or Business college degree is preferred. In the absence of a college degree a Certification/Degree in an appropriate discipline from a Vo-Tech organization will be considered. In the absence of a college degree or an appropriate certification/degree from a vo-tech institution, a minimum of 10 years of management/supervisory experience in instrumentation and fabrication in a shop and/or field services type environment may be acceptable. Military service may be substituted for a college degree. 4 years’ service any branch. DD FORM 214 required with Character of Service marked “HONORABLE”. TWIC certification. Minimum of 4 years inside sales or similar experience recommended. Minimum of 2-5 years outside sales/account management/industrial sales/technician or similar experience recommended. Demonstrated ability to understand and manage inventory operations associated with a production/manufacturing environment. Demonstrated ability in developing, administering and implementing business/operational plans. Demonstrated ability in developing, implementing talent management programs that bring about efficiency, productivity as well as a motivating environment that fosters personal growth in the department. Demonstrated ability in the overall management and discipline of personnel who are in a highly skilled blue-collar environment. Demonstrated ability to be visionary and strategic with respect to fostering business growth. Demonstrated ability in the management of processes/protocols associated with a high performing business unit. Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external Executive level personnel.
