Travel RN - Operating Room

American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for a 13-week outpatient surgical services assignment requiring 2+ years of OR experience and an active VA or compact RN license.

Job Details

• Outpatient Pavilion setting within Surgical Services,
• Handles a variety of case types including General, GYN, Breast/Plastics, Urology, Ortho, Podiatry, and Eyes,
• Unit has 6 operating rooms with an average daily census of 35,
• Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM,
• No weekends or holidays required for scheduled shifts,
• Late stay sign-up required as part of call coverage,
• On-call required for select areas such as OT, IR, and Cath Lab with a 30-mile/30-minute response requirement,
• Floating may be required in rotation with client staff per hospital policy,
• Epic EMR experience preferred,

Job Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration,
• BLS certification required; ACLS and CNOR preferred,
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required,
• Proficiency across multiple surgical specialties including ortho, breast/plastics, urology, GYN, and general surgery preferred,
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred,
• Previous charge experience preferred,
• 1:1 patient ratio experience,

Additional Information

• Provide scrub and circulating support across a wide range of surgical specialties and procedures,
• Complete up to 7 hours of non-billable orientation modules based on specialty during onboarding,
• Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31),
• Facility is smoke and nicotine free,
• First-time travelers considered as long as candidate has at least 2 years of prior OR RN experience,
• Previous VHC staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler,
• RTO requests should be minimal and submitted upfront, with approval at manager discretion,
• Some holiday coverage should be expected
