Business Analyst

Performs business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses to align information technology (IT) solutions with business initiatives. Assists in the development of functional, system, and program specifications. Work focuses on reporting, workflow automation, and the implementation and support of enterprise technology solutions, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools for faculty and staff. Under general supervision and performs routine to moderately complex assignments and exercises judgment within established policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Learning and Information Technology (LIT) is a support organization dedicated to providing efficient and effective state-of-the-art learning and information technology solutions and services to students, faculty, and staff for instruction, administration, and public service in support of the University's mission.

Competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience. The salary range for this position at UW-Stout Polytechnic is $74,000. Bachelor's degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience performing business analysis, including gathering requirements, documenting processes, and supporting system implementations. Experience working with reporting, data analysis, or enterprise systems in a professional environment. Basic knowledge of business process improvement methodologies and the ability to analyze and document workflows. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to troubleshoot issues, provide user support, and contribute to system documentation and training. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

Experience developing and supporting reports and dashboards using tools such as Tableau or similar data visualization platforms. Experience designing, implementing, or supporting workflow automation solutions (e.g., BP Logix, DocFinity or comparable tools). Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies, including prompt engineering, workflow integration, or governance considerations in academic or administrative environments. Experience working with enterprise collaboration platforms such as Microsoft SharePoint and Teams. Knowledge of data management concepts, including data structures, data governance, and data security practices. Experience supporting business process improvement initiatives and applying change management principles. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a higher education or similarly complex environment. Experience providing user training, documentation, and technical support for enterprise systems.
