The Veterans Liaison serves as the vital link between veteran residents, property management, and the broader support ecosystem. The ideal candidate will maintain an office within the apartment community and serve as a source of information for veterans’ benefits, coordinate with VA social workers, and collaborate with local service providers, community organizations, and property management to ensure residents have access to supportive services and resources.

Unlike traditional clinical case management, the Veterans Liaison focuses on holistic stability, community integration, and proactive advocacy. The Liaison ensures that no veteran "falls through the cracks" by maintaining a consistent on-site presence, facilitating life-skills programming, and streamlining access to both Veterans Village clinical staff and VA benefits. This role is designed to foster a thriving, self-sufficient residential community while providing the "connective tissue" that ensures housing remains permanent.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. On-Site Presence & Resident Engagement (1 Day/Week)

• Maintain a visible, consistent "office hours" presence at the Vintage Housing property to build trust and rapport with residents.

• Conduct proactive "wellness checks" and informal "door-knocks" to identify emerging needs before they become crises.

• Act as a neutral liaison between residents and property management to resolve housing-related concerns.

1. Clinical Triage & Resource Navigation

• Identify residents requiring higher-level care and formally refer them for comprehensive assessments with the Veterans Village Registered Nurse (RN) or the VA.

• Navigate the complex VA landscape to ensure residents are maximized on their earned benefits (healthcare, disability, pension).

• Maintain an up-to-date directory of local non-VA community resources (food banks, legal aid, transit) in Pasco, Everett, Spokane, Lake Stevens, Tukwila, or Issaquah as applicable.

1. Community Integration & Personal Development

• Design and host monthly workshops focused on the "Whole Veteran." Topics may include:

• Financial Wellness: Budgeting for civilian life.

• Social Connection: Peer-to-peer mentorship and local community volunteerism.

• Health & Growth: Stress management, nutrition, or digital literacy.

• Coordinate community-building events to reduce the isolation often felt by transitioning veterans.

1. Dedicated Success Coaching & Case Management (1 Day/Week)

• Manage a small roster of residents requiring intensive "success planning"—setting goals for employment, education, or personal stability.

• Assist residents in developing "Housing Retention Plans" to ensure long-term tenancy.

• Maintain confidential, accurate electronic records of all resident interactions and progress.

1. Advocacy & Quality Assurance

• Systematically follow up on resident concerns regarding property conditions, safety, or service gaps.

• Track and report resident feedback to the CBO leadership to ensure the partnership with Vintage Housing remains responsive to veteran needs.

• Collect "Impact Data" (e.g., workshop attendance, successful VA enrollments) to satisfy WSHFC reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Veteran Status Preferred: A deep, lived understanding of military culture and the transition to civilian life.

• Experience: 2+ years in social services, peer support, or community organizing.

• Communication: Familiar with VA benefits programs and terminology; strong conflict-resolution skills.
