Job Duties

• Use a hoist to stage containers/baskets for the process.
• Lift, transfer, and lower containers/baskets in the cooker using the hoist.
• Control sealing the chamber to initiate the cooking process (steam pressure cooker) for canned foods as per specifications.
• Monitor dials, thermometers, and valves to control temperature, pressure, and cooking time.
• Release steam and allow cooling water into the chamber to prevent overcooking at the end of the cooking cycle.
• Assist in opening the retort and moving canned food to the cooling trough using the hoist.
• Record pertinent information such as retort number, can size, grade description, cooking time, and pressure on canning reports.
• Follow quality and operating procedures, and perform additional tasks as required.

Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to multitask
• Flexible with job responsibilities
• Willing to work overtime weekly
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed

What You Will Do


As a Hoist Operator you will support daily manufacturing operations by assembling products, operating production equipment, inspecting finished goods, packaging materials, maintaining production standards, and following established work instructions. You will help keep production areas clean and organized, monitor product quality, meet production goals, and contribute to safe, efficient manufacturing operations.
