Job Details Job Location: Wintergreen - Nellysford, VA 22958 Position Type: Seasonal Salary Range: $18.00 - $32.00 Hourly SUMMARY Wintergreen Winter Teams is dedicated to making skiing and snowboarding a lifelong passion for our athletes and their families. Guided by a team of experienced coaches, our athletes develop strong technical skills, learn to compete, and build the confidence to perform at their best- on the hill and beyond. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Coach and mentor athletes in alignment with Wintergreen Winter Teams mission, emphasizing skill development, safety, and fun. Lead group training sessions for Introductory, Development, or Competition-level athletes in race or freestyle disciplines. Provide positive, constructive feedback to athletes and encourage personal growth on and off the slopes. Assist with race-day or event operations, including course setup, athlete management, and event wrap-up. Collaborate with other coaches and team leaders to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment. Serve as a role model for sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for fellow athletes, staff, and guests. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Strong skiing or snowboarding skills; ability to demonstrate proper technique at the level you are coaching. Previous coaching, instructing, or mentoring experience preferred (but not required for introductory level). Enthusiasm for working with youth and a passion for fostering a love of winter sports. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to complete required training and maintain compliance with safety standards. Availability to work weekends and select holidays during the ski season. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous race, freeride, competition, or coaching experience. Current USSA (U.S. Ski & Snowboard) or PSIA/AASI (Professional Ski Instructors of America/American Association of Snowboard Instructors) certification. Prior coaching or instructor certification, or the ability and willingness to complete certification training as required. LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT(S) All Winter Competition Team coaches are required to hold - or be willing to obtain - at least an entry-level coaching certification. Wintergreen supports professional development and encourages coaches to pursue ongoing education and certification to enhance their skills and ensure a safe, high-quality learning environment for athletes.
