Join us as a Field IT Support Engineer at our Malvern site, where you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in partnership with some of the most brilliant minds.The RoleAs a Field IT Support Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring QinetiQ colleagues across the UK have the technology and support they need to deliver critical work. You'll be the hands-on technical expert who resolves issues that cannot be fixed remotely, providing support across a varied estate of sites and technologiesDay-to-day, you'll provide desktop and infrastructure support, manage your own ticket queue, travel to customer and QinetiQ sites across the UK, and work closely with colleagues to troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of IT issues. No two days are the same, with a mix of onsite support, hardware installation, device builds, network patching and technical problem-solving.Your responsibilities will include:Providing onsite IT support and technical troubleshooting across QinetiQ locationsInvestigating and resolving hardware, desktop and infrastructure-related incidents and service requestsBuilding, deploying and maintaining end-user devices and associated equipmentSupporting network infrastructure through basic patching, connectivity checks and equipment installationManaging and prioritising your own workload and ticket queue in line with ITIL practicesCollaborating with wider IT teams and escalating issues where appropriateEssential experience of the Field IT Support Engineer: Experience working within an IT Support, Desktop Support, Infrastructure Support or Field Service environmentStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across a broad range of IT technologiesExperience supporting Windows desktops, laptops, peripherals and end-user devicesExperience working with ticket management systems and service delivery processesAbility to work independently and manage competing prioritiesWillingness to travel regularly and work across multiple UK locationsEssential qualifications for the Field IT Support Engineer:Full UK Driving LicenceEligible to obtain and maintain SC Security ClearanceRelevant IT qualification, apprenticeship, degree or equivalent practical experienceWe value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.This role is 37 hours per week based at our Malvern site with regular travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites. The Malvern facility is noted for its work in electronic warfare, surveillance and complex system integration, contributing significantly to the UK’s defence capabilities.
