Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering (Fraud & Risk) Our Technology Team partners with teams across Expedia Group to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. In this role, you will: Own your team’s platform architecture, design and delivery of solutions for automated risk decisioning and remediation. Hold a high bar for technical operations, establish clear SLOs, observability, and safety/rollback mechanisms for your team’s software. Lead the integration of Generative and Agentic AI into fraud detection workflows, simplifying and modernizing the platform while reducing time to detect and mitigate attacks. Advocate for the use of AI in improving engineering processes, productivity and the SDLC. Partner closely with engineering teams and Data Science/ML Scientists on features, experimentation, monitoring and delivery. Partner with Product and Operations teams to translate functional requirements into technical specifications. Build highly productive and ambitious teams while helping engineers reach their career aspirations. Minimum Qualifications: 9+ years of software engineering, with 2+ years in an engineering leadership role. Strong background in distributed cloud-native engineering at scale (AWS, GCP, or Azure), microservices and API-driven design. Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and data streaming/processing technology (Kafka, Flink, Spark). Prior experience coding in one or more of Java/Scala/Go/Python. Demonstrable experience guiding teams to achieve excellence in tech operations. Familiarity with ML-integrated systems, working with Data/ML Science partners to deliver product features. Passionate about mentorship, coaching and helping engineers with career growth. Preferred Qualifications: Proven experience building and operating either fraud and risk systems in production, or other similarly ML/AI heavy systems. Track record reducing manual operations via automation and platform simplification. Experience with RAG-based architectures, LLMs and multi-agent applications. The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $184,500.00 to $258,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $295,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
