Pharmacy Technician TraineeAs our Pharmacy Technician Trainee you will help the Pharmacist and licensed Technicians with medication preparation, inventory management, and distribution so they can ensure accurate and compliant pharmaceutical services while preventing medication errors. Every day you will assist in medication preparation and distribution processes, including controlled substances management. You will be expected to apply extreme accuracy and attention to detail, manage medication storage areas using pharmacy automation, and field and triage calls and questions regarding medication distribution within your scope of practice. To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate the ability to apply pharmacy knowledge to identify variances and outliers in clinical practice, adhere to DEA, FDA, and state regulations, and possess the necessary focus for tasks requiring extreme accuracy and attention to detail.Prescription Documentation: Records prescription serial numbers and dispensing dates on original ordersRefill Authorization: Initiates or accepts verbal/electronic refill authorizations from medical practitioners or agents, documenting all required informationLabeling & Data Entry: Types and affixes prescription labels or enters information into a computer for new/refill prescriptions, with pharmacist verificationMedication Preparation: Reconstitutes prescription medications and performs retrieval, counting, or pouring of medications, always with pharmacist verificationHospital Inpatient Dispensing: Measures, counts, pours, and prepares drugs for hospital inpatient dispensing, subject to full pharmacist verification of accuracy and safetyDrug Prepackaging: Performs the prepackaging of drugsJob RequirementsRequiredHigh school diploma or GEDObtain Pharmacy Assistant license in the state in which the employee works if available or necessaryExcellent verbal and written communicationExcellent knowledge of drug names desired with the expectation of continuing education on new drugsWhere You'll WorkSince 1885, CHI St. Alexius Health has been dedicated to leading health care in this region by enriching the lives of patients through the highest quality of care.
