Level 2 Data Center Technician

Location: 7725 Lake Rd., Barker, NY (Onsite)

Position Summary

The Level 2 Data Center Technician is responsible for the installation, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of server and network hardware within a hyperscale AI data center. This role supports the day-to-day operation of mission-critical infrastructure by performing rack and stack activities, hardware replacements, structured cabling, inventory management, and incident response while maintaining high availability and strict operational standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Install, rack, and deploy servers, storage systems, and network equipment.
• Perform rack and stack activities for new infrastructure deployments.
• Install, label, route, and replace copper and fiber optic cabling.
• Execute hardware break/fix activities, including:
• • Server tray swaps
  • Hard drive replacements
  • Memory upgrades
  • Power supply replacement
  • NIC and component replacement
• Troubleshoot server hardware and basic network connectivity issues.
• Perform visual inspections and diagnostics on failed equipment.
• Respond to operational incidents while meeting SLA requirements.
• Update asset management systems and accurately document completed work.
• Follow change management and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain inventory accuracy for servers, network equipment, and spare parts.
• Coordinate with engineers, vendors, and operations teams during deployments and maintenance windows.
• Maintain cable management and data center cleanliness.
• Follow all safety, security, and environmental procedures while working in production environments.

• Basic Linux familiarity

• Ability to work in fast-paced, mission-critical environments

Preferred Experience

• 2–7+ years supporting enterprise or hyperscale data centers
• Experience with AI, cloud, or HPC environments
• Familiarity with Dell, HPE, Supermicro, Cisco, Arista, or NVIDIA hardware
• Experience with:
• • Server deployments
  • Hardware refreshes
  • Cable remediation
  • Inventory audits
  • Remote hands support
• Experience working rotating shifts or providing on-call support.
