Job Summary:MaineGeneral Health is seeking an experienced and collaborative Director of Emergency Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for Emergency Nursing Services across our two campuses.In this highly visible leadership role, you'll oversee emergency nursing operations and our Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Program while partnering closely with physicians, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered emergency care. You'll also play an important role in emergency preparedness and ensuring our teams are ready to respond to the evolving needs of the communities we serve.This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished nursing leader who is passionate about developing people, strengthening operations, and leading teams in a dynamic environment where the work has an immediate impact on patients, families, and our community.Job Description:Position Highlights:Provide leadership and oversight for Emergency Services at both the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta and Thayer Center for Health in WatervilleOversee emergency nursing operations, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care across both campusesProvide leadership for MaineGeneral's SAFE program, trauma program, and emergency preparedness initiativesCollaborate with physicians, nursing leaders, clinical departments, and community partners to support coordinated emergency careLead initiatives focused on patient experience, quality, safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory complianceOpportunity to expand your leadership expertise in emergency services, trauma, and emergency preparedness while making a meaningful impact on the communities we serveWhat You'll Do:Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orientation, evaluation, disciplinary action, and continuing education initiatives.Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.What You'll Bring:Active Maine RN license or eligibility to obtain Maine licensure promptlyBachelor's degree in Nursing requiredMaster's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferredProgressive nursing leadership experience required.Emergency Department or Emergency Services experience strongly preferred.Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a complex, fast-paced clinical environment.Strong understanding of nursing operations, staffing, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and patient care standards.Experience with budgeting, workforce planning, and operational performance management.Ability to build strong working relationships with physicians, clinical leaders, staff, and organizational partners.Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex operational challenges.Why MaineGeneral Health?At MaineGeneral Health, our Emergency Services teams are there for our communities when they need us most.
