The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of WordPress development, including theme and plugin development, and be proficient in front-end and back-end technologies. This role requires someone who is passionate about building sophisticated and scalable websites, is detail-oriented, and has a strong sense of ownership over their work. Responsibilities and Duties Develop and maintain WordPress websites: Lead the development of custom WordPress themes and plugins, ensuring the highest standards of code quality, performance, and security. Optimize website performance: Implement best practices to optimize website speed, performance, and scalability, ensuring an optimal user experience across all devices. Integrate third-party APIs and services: Work with various APIs and third-party services to extend website functionality, ensuring seamless integration and data flow. Collaborate with design and marketing teams: Work closely with our design and marketing teams to translate creative concepts into functional and user-friendly websites. Manage website migrations and deployments: Handle the migration of websites between environments, and oversee the deployment process to ensure smooth transitions and minimal downtime. Ensure website security: Implement and maintain robust security practices to protect websites from vulnerabilities and attacks, including regular updates and patches. Provide technical support and troubleshooting: Address and resolve technical issues, bugs, and client requests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction. Stay updated with industry trends: Continuously research and implement the latest technologies, tools, and best practices to keep our development processes current and efficient. Mentor junior developers: Offer guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members, helping to elevate the overall skill level of our development team. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in WordPress development, with a strong portfolio of completed projects. Proven track record of delivering high-quality, responsive, and performance-optimized websites. Skills and Competencies Advanced WordPress development: Extensive experience with custom theme and plugin development, as well as familiarity with the WordPress core. Back-end technologies: Strong knowledge of PHP, MySQL, and server management, enabling you to build and maintain complex website functionalities. Version control systems: Experience with Git or similar version control systems to manage and collaborate on code effectively. Problem-solving skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with creative and effective solutions. Attention to detail: A meticulous approach to coding and testing, ensuring that all websites meet the highest standards of quality. Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Time management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Location This position is offered on a remote basis. However, as we continue to grow, we plan to open offices in cities where most of our team members are located, providing opportunities to work in a collaborative, in-person environment. Working Hours The typical work schedule is from 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility as needed to accommodate project deadlines and team meetings. Reporting Structure The WordPress Developer will report directly to the Lead Developer and collaborate closely with the design and marketing teams to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
