Occupational Therapist

Through the Looking Glass Through the Looking Glass is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist and will seriously consider a new graduate if he or she has a strong interest and dedication to not only working with children with disabilities but parents with disabilities as well. The OT would be mentored closely by current TLG OTs in serving both populations. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Provide developmental consultation to staff at Oakland Head Start/Early Head Start programs. Provide home-based and center-based assessment and early intervention for children under the age of five years. Provide adaptive parenting services to parents with physical or vision disabilities. Support quality interaction and relationships between infants or children and parents. Coordinate intervention during teamwork with other TLG and community providers. Complete necessary record-keeping and reports. Respect cultural and disability differences in a diverse community. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience Requirements Master’s in occupational therapy, with a California OT License. Experience or internship with children with disabilities is a must. Certifications, Licenses, and Registration Requirements Possession of a California Occupational Therapy license. This position requires frequent driving. Candidates must have a reliable personal vehicle, maintain current personal auto insurance as mandated by law, and ensure they remain reasonably insurable under the agency’s auto liability policies. The use of a personal vehicle is essential for the successful completion of job duties and responsibilities. State regulations require a physical examination, immunizations, current tuberculosis test, and verified fingerprint and criminal record check before hiring. Required Skills/Abilities Language Skills: Bilingual, bi-literate preferred, English/Spanish or ASL, and other language ability based on program needs. Ability to write reports, assessments, and progress notes; effectively communicate with other staff and workers in the community.
