The work includes replacing the aging central boiler plant with a new boiler system and its supporting infrastructure, along with a building renovation and the renovation of pathology space. Other projects replace fire alarm systems in several buildings, correct failing plumbing conditions, and mitigate critical electrical hazards through site lighting improvements, which together address deficiencies found in facility condition assessments. On-site mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and staff architects are each assigned to a specific project, providing project management, scheduling, cost and change order control, and review of submittals and requests for information. The team also runs quality assurance inspections, constructability and phasing reviews, and safety and code compliance monitoring. It coordinates closely with facility staff so construction doesn't disrupt ongoing hospital operations, utilities or patient access.
