Machinist II# Machinist IIPaola, KS 66071## OverviewJob ShiftFirst Shift## DescriptionJOB SUMMARY In addition to all functions of a Machinist I, a Machinist II shall perform difficult layout and machining operations on components and products to close tolerances. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* Operate all types of machine tools (i.e. horizontal and vertical boring mills, lathes, milling type machines) in an efficient manner to close tolerances.* Perform machining operations in support of destructive test samples.* Perform difficult layout work in accordance with drawings, standards, and specifications.* Align and setup components in the machine tools.* Grind tools to the proper cutting geometry.* Assist lower level Machinists on proper machining and layout techniques.* Report abnormal conditions of equipment to Foreman.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES* Work in a safe and secure manner and comply with the safety rules and procedures.* Operate Navy Nuclear OD and ID turning machines.* Perform small repairs and preventative maintenance on the machine tools.* Operate jib cranes, forklifts, and other mobile equipment (except heavy cranes) for the moving of material, components, and equipment from location to location within the plant. Occasionally operate overhead cranes and towmotors in support of small moves to continue production within the department.* Perform general laborer duties as required (i.e. grinding, loading and unloading of trucks and railcars, bricking furnace).* Keep working area clean and perform housekeeping duties around the plant as required (i.e. pickup tools, roll-up hoses and cables, sweep).## QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS* Capable of planning and utilizing a variety of machine tools to produce close tolerance components.* Capable of performing math computations involving decimals and fractions.* Capable of reading and understanding Engineering drawings and documents.* Capable of lifting 50 lbs. up to waist.* Requires 48 months minimum of job-related work experience.WORKING ENVIRONMENT* Possible exposure to chips flying.* Exposure to dirty and greasy work environment.* Close visual and mental attention required.* Exposure to normal shop noises of grinding, chipping, high pressure gas burners, and repair operations.* Moderate physical exertion required when handling components.EOE/Veterans/Disabled #J-18808-Ljbffr Taylor Forge Engineered systems, Inc.
