Job Description Job Description Experienced Medical Assistant (Bilingual, Full Time 40 hr/week) Medical Practice in Brooklyn (near the R train) is seeking a Medical Assistant with good communication skills and the ability to multi-task. The candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, and must be bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish). Candidate must be available to start work at 8:00 am. Medical Assistant training and 1 year experience is required. Medical Assistant will perform routine clinical and administrative assignments delineated below. Candidate should have personable telephone manner, be dependable, punctual and have friendly, professional demeanor. The successful candidate for this Full Time Medical Assistant position must enjoy working in a private practice setting and be used to working autonomously. Immediate start date preferred. Training will be provided. Medical Assistant’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist the doctor during the patient visit (perform EKGs, take blood pressure, etc. Will Train). Handle patient and pharmacy calls including triage, prescriptions and questions from patients. Prepare patients for examination by preparing room, necessary tools and supplies. Keep inventory of supplies. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. Communicate with insurance companies to obtain Prior Authorizations; Check for insurance eligibility/verification. Answer phone calls. Able to communicate with patients in Spanish. Greet and register patients quickly and efficiently while maintaining professionalism. Check out patients. Collect and document co-pays. Schedule patient appointments. Maintain patient records by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information. Data entry, filing, scanning, faxing, e-mailing, copying, and other routine office work. Has basic computer knowledge. Experience with EMR and Practice Management software is a plus. Assist with billing. Provide Spanish translation.
