Plasma Table Operator

Full time 7925 Amsterdam, NY, US Salary Range: $20.00 To $25.00 Hourly SHIFT: 1st and 2nd Shift Available! GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Plasma Table Operator sets up, operates, and programs the Plasma Table, as well as the Cosen Saw. This position is responsible for safe transfer of steel plates to and from delivery, storage, and work areas. The Plasma Table Operator cuts steel parts in support of production requirements. This position adheres to all safety guidelines. The Plasma Table Operator works under the direction of the Production Supervisor and other manufacturing leaders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Set up, operate, and program the Plasma Table and Cosen Saw. Move material into work area, load and unload machines using forklift. Identify material, measure and check for thickness and size accuracy. Use of plasma cutter and hand torch to refine parts and preparation for scrap disposal. Keep the leader informed of any machine or quality issues or problems, including perform preventive machine maintenance tasks. Keep inventory of materials and initiate raw material purchases as needed to meet production needs. Assist team members with moving and handling parts, manually or by crane use. Perform other manual work, when requested, including grinding, cleaning, deburring parts, etc. Maintain clean and organized work area and equipment and comply with safety requirements. Safely operate crane and/or forklift if trained and assigned. Perform work in a safe manner and complete all required safety inspections. Actively participate in cross training and continuous improvement assignments. Work cooperatively with coworkers including training and knowledge sharing. Learn new skills, techniques and equipment operation as assigned. Adhere to safety rules and guidelines. Lift material and parts. Perform work in a safe manner, complete all required safety inspections and adhere to safety rules and guidelines including safely operate crane and/or forklift if trained and assigned. Maintains conformance with safety rules and regulations, if you are unclear of or uncomfortable with a safety process then you have an obligation to make your supervisor aware. It is required that if you see or are made aware of a safety related issue or concern to immediately address it or make management aware. Involved with continuous improvement efforts regarding all aspects of safety. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment. May work overtime as production needs require. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILLS: A minimum of three (3) years experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of plasma cutter and hand torches. Experience with nest programming or use of nesting systems. Able to read blueprints. CNC manufacturing experience. Forklift and crane experience. Proficient understanding of safety requirements. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with management and co-workers. Must be able to understand English language and be understood. Basic shop math. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Physical activity includes standing, pulling, walking, pushing, reaching above shoulders, and lifting up to 50 pounds. If work demands require lifting in excess of 50 pounds, the use of a mechanical device or initiation of a two-person lift is required.
