High School English Teacher

Gooding High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School English Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a love for literature, writing, and critical thinking. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and engaging students in meaningful discussions and projects that enhance their understanding of the English language and literature.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum objectives.
• Teach a range of English courses, including literature, composition, and creative writing.
• Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and projects, providing constructive feedback to support student growth.
• Foster a classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives.
• Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance the learning experience.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and participate in professional development opportunities.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administration regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Participate in school events, committees, and extracurricular activities to promote a positive school culture.
• Support students in developing their writing skills, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification or license in English education for high school level.
• Strong knowledge of English language arts curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
• Proficiency in using technology for classroom instruction and student engagement.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
• Previous teaching experience at the high school level is preferred but not required.

Must complete a background check through the Idaho State Department of Education.
