Data Engineering Associate

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 3 years of applied experience
• Strong data modeling expertise, including modeling tables with ERwin and applying normalization and dimensional modeling techniques
• Hands-on experience with Databricks as a data engineering platform, building and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines through performance tuning, partitioning, file sizing, and incremental loads
• Strong SQL skills, including joins, analytics and window functions, and query optimization
• Strong Oracle experience, including DDL/DML, schema design, PL/SQL development, and performance tuning using execution plans, indexes, partitioning, and statistics
• Experience handling JSON and semi-structured data, including parsing, flattening, and schema evolution
• Experience with Databricks Genie Spaces and ThoughtSpot integration with Databricks
• Proficiency in Git-based workflows with Bitbucket and/or GitHub, and familiarity with IntelliJ IDEA or a similar IDE
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills across ingestion, transformation, and serving layers
• Hands-on use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to critically assess, validate, and refine generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers in safe and effective practices
• Preferred: Experience enabling or administering Unity Catalog, including catalog and schema design, permissions, lineage, and metadata patterns
• Preferred: Experience in an agile or scrum delivery environment
• Preferred: Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
• Preferred: Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and DevOps practices
• Preferred: Knowledge of financial services technology or regulated-industry environments

• Design and develop high-quality, scalable software solutions that meet business and technical requirements
• Contribute across the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment
• Collaborate with product, architecture, operations, and other cross-functional partners to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues, conducting root cause analysis to help prevent recurrence
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in peer reviews to uphold engineering standards
• Support continuous integration and delivery pipelines to improve deployment frequency and reliability
• Prepare clear and accurate technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders
• Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives
• Use enterprise-authorized AI coding assistants and development automation tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity; validate outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding practices, and share reusable learnings with the team
• Apply software development lifecycle toolchain capabilities, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation, to increase the value of automation
