TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Asheville, North Carolina, 28801!

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 10.5 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Candidates must have stepdown experience. Candidates must have telemetry experience. Description: Unit Information: The primary patient population includes cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients. This includes open heart surgery such as CABG, AVR, MVR, and TAVR. Thoracic lung surgeries like lobectomy and thoracotomy are also performed. Patients may also have diagnoses of heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block. The unit has 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds with approximately 100 total staff members. Staffing includes 1 charge RN and 13 RNs on both day and night shifts, along with patient care technicians. The patient ratios are 1 RN to 5 patients and 1 patient care technician to 13 patients. Typical equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts. Cerner is used for electronic medical records. Skill Set: Candidates with prior CV surgery and vascular surgery experience will be considered first. CVICU experience is also a plus. Procedures performed on the unit include: Epidural management. Chest tube management. Tube feedings. IV gluccomander. Cardiac medication management including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine. The ideal candidate will be a team player. They should enjoy a fast-paced environment and be flexible. Weekend requirements include a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period. Candidates should be flexible to work holidays.
