Full-time Business Office Payroll Specialist

Harrison Township School District has an opening for a Full-time Business Office Payroll Specialist. Qualifications: A high school diploma, preferably with business school or business college training (grandfathering for those currently employed in position); Knowledge of computer technology and its applications; Strong mathematical aptitude; Ability to work well with others; Ability to deal with multiple tasks and duties; Ability to maintain confidentiality; Ability to accept and follow administrative direction; Ability to use "common sense" and to recognize emergency situations; Strong organizational and time-management skills Reports to: School Business Administrator/Board Secretary Job Goal: To assist the School Business Administrator in maintaining the functions of the business office in an efficient and organized manner. Performance Responsibilities: Maintain confidentiality in the department. Process semi-monthly payroll in a timely manner. Maintain employee database as it pertains to all payroll related information and tasks (example: payroll deductions, direct deposit information, address changes, budget account changes, etc.) Calculate and make salary adjustments as needed. Process enrollment into the State pension system and complete State quarterly pension reports and payments. Process all Payroll Agency payments on a specific time schedule. Process and pay required taxes in a timely manner. Communicate with administrators regarding pay vouchers as needed. Maintain Staff attendance records. Balance the monthly payroll and payroll agency bank accounts to the records maintained in the Business Office. Preparation of required reports for the Treasurer of School Monies. Advise the School Business Administrator of any problems, concerns, and situations that may affect the school's smooth operations. Any and all other duties that may be assigned by the School Business Administrator. Terms of Employment: 12-month work year Evaluation: Evaluation will be completed by the immediate supervisor in accordance with Board Policy.
