CNC Programmer

This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for complex, multi-axis machining in an aerospace and high-precision medical manufacturing environment. You will design tooling and workholding, refine machining processes for efficiency and quality, and collaborate closely with engineering and shop floor teams to ensure programs meet stringent standards and production goals.

Responsibilities

• Create, organize, and maintain CNC programs for a variety of machine platforms, including up to 7-axis equipment.
• Generate precise tool paths for complex geometries, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and efficient machining.
• Update CNC code according to print revisions and manage version control to maintain program integrity.
• Design custom workholding fixtures that support complex part geometries and efficient setups.
• Select optimal machining strategies, cutting tools, and machining sequences to minimize setup times and maximize throughput.
• Coordinate with vendors to identify, preorder, and procure special cutting tools and equipment required for production.
• Implement and refine semi-autonomous machining techniques to maximize machine utilization and efficiency.
• Optimize cycle times and tool life by fine-tuning feeds, speeds, and cutting parameters while maintaining high-quality finishes.
• Develop clear setup sheets and manufacturing aids for the shop floor to support consistent and efficient production.
• Stay current with the latest machine and tooling technologies and apply new methods to improve manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with engineering to resolve manufacturing challenges and ensure programs meet design and process requirements.
• Work closely with machinists to dial in feeds and speeds and to validate and improve new and existing programs.
• Troubleshoot new program proof-of-concept runs, identifying and resolving issues before full production.
• Mentor employees by sharing best practices in CNC programming, machining strategies, and process optimization.
• Use Net-Inspect for accurate data entry and documentation of relevant production and quality information.
• Ensure all processes and programs align with AS9100 standards and internal company policies.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 7 years of related experience and/or training in aerospace or high-precision medical manufacturing.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in multi-axis CNC programming using ESPRIT and/or Mastercam.
• Strong CNC programming skills for complex, multi-axis machines, including up to 7-axis platforms.
• Hands-on experience with CNC machining processes and strategies in a production environment.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and procedures.
• Advanced proficiency in ESPRIT and/or Mastercam software for tool path generation and program development.
• Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and internet browsers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Accurate typing and 10-key data entry skills for documentation and reporting.
• Solid understanding of machining geometry, tooling, and workholding principles.
• Ability to ensure processes comply with AS9100 standards and internal quality policies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience programming and machining in an aerospace or high-precision medical manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with multi-axis machine configurations such as Swiss lathes and turret-based machines.
• Experience designing custom workholding fixtures and selecting specialized cutting tools.
• Comfort using Net-Inspect or similar systems for production and quality data entry.
• Ability to create clear, detailed setup sheets and manufacturing aids for machinists.
• Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting proof-of-concept programs and resolving machining challenges.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with engineering and shop floor teams.
• Capability to mentor and support colleagues in CNC programming and machining best practices.
• General proficiency with the MS Office suite for documentation, reporting, and communication.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality finishes and optimized tool life.

Work Environment

The role is based in a machine shop environment that is slightly loud but very clean, reflecting a focus on safety, organization, and precision. You will work around advanced CNC equipment, including multi-axis machines such as Swiss lathes and turret configurations, and use programming tools like ESPRIT and Mastercam alongside standard office technologies such as Windows PCs and the Microsoft Office suite. This is a Permanent position based out of Valencia, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
