Bus Monitor Position

Addison Central School District seeks to fill a Bus Monitor position within the District Transportation Department. The duties include, but are not limited to, working alongside licensed bus drivers, responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of students, maintaining discipline on the bus and at stops along the route, showing a willingness and capability to train for potential additional positions within the department, and assisting the driver in maintaining the cleanliness of the bus.

Typical work activities include:

• Riding a school bus for the purpose of assisting students to climb aboard and alight from the bus;
• Assisting younger students to cross streets and highways in safety;
• Maintaining order among students on the bus and exercising appropriate discipline where necessary;
• Ensuring that students are seated while the bus is in motion for optimum safety;
• Providing special assistance in the loading, transporting, and unloading of physically challenged students; and
• Assisting students and driver as needed;
• Other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
