School Nutrition AssistantPurpose of the position: To prepare and serve food in accordance with government rules and regulations. Essential job functions include serving students healthy meals to support student learning, working under the direction of the School Nutrition Manager/Assistant Manager, demonstrating the ability to work with the school community, practicing proper procedures in food preparation, use and care of equipment, and personal habits to assure that sanitation standards are met, following standards of safety in preparing, storing, and serving food, participating in implementing promotions related to the program, attending job-related training classes and workshops, adhering to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, demonstrating prompt and regular attendance/timeliness, completing assignments and requirements on time and in compliance with directions, maintaining accurate, complete, and appropriate records, and maintaining confidentiality of information and records for students and staff.Job standards include a ninth grade education or HSE, the ability to read, write, and follow instructions, the ability to lift 30 pound loads and stand on hard floor surfaces 6-7 hours per day, and practicing good personal hygiene.Job location is individual schools. Equipment used includes a cash register and institutional kitchen equipment. Critical skills/expertise needed include the ability to measure and weigh ingredients, the ability to follow directions both orally and written, the ability to compute basic math, and the ability to work well with people.
