This position drafts court documents, represents victims in court and argues their cases, and negotiates with the opposing counsel. The attorney also communicates with relevant parties. Essential duties and responsibilities include drafting court documents, appearing in court for oral arguments or trials, representing victims, communicating with various parties, negotiating with opposing counsel, and performing other duties as assigned. Minimum education required is a Juris Doctorate Degree. No previous experience is required. Professional credentials required/preferred include Arizona Supreme Court Bar Licensure, Arizona Bar Association Membership, and a valid Arizona Driver's License. Knowledge required includes public safety and security, law and government, federal, state, local laws, regulations, statutes, public safety regulations, and information technology. Skills required include analytical thinking, analytical writing, reading, presentation, persuading and influencing, negotiating, problem solving, and time management. Abilities required include fully and quickly comprehending spoken words, expressing oneself orally and through written words, maintaining auditory attention, and reading and writing at college level. Physical demands include occasionally standing to present, lifting work-related materials or equipment up to 25 lbs, constantly requiring dexterity for keyboard operation, and occasionally walking to and from work sites, bending, kneeling, and twisting to complete tasks. Work environment includes spending time in office, library, and auditorium, and occasionally in an automobile. Safety risk exposure includes potential telephone verbal abuse and exposure to individuals with high levels of emotional distress.
