Associate Director

**Job Description****The Career & Internship Center has an outstanding opportunity for an Associate Director-Coaching Operations to join their team.****About this Opportunity**Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director-Coaching Operations is responsible for leading the career coaching team. Our career coaches support students and recent graduates in exploring careers and securing internships and jobs through virtual and in-person 1:1 and group services; produce content for our interest and identity pages; create and revise resources to align with current student needs and labor market trends; and so much more. The person we hire into this role will provide guidance and operational support to the coaches as they carry out their work, make decisions about what types of student-facing resources we need, and serve as a critical member of the center’s executive leadership team.This role will serve on the UW Seattle campus and is eligible for up to 40% (2 days) of telework per week, depending on staff, employer, and student needs, but will work mostly in-person during the initial training period.**Key Responsibilities** **Management of Coaching Operations (65%)**Personnel* Provide supervision to a team of approximately 4 staff career coaches and provide program oversight for 1-4 peer career coaches.* Cultivate a community of practice so coaches can learn best practices from one another.* Provide leadership during staff and peer coach hiring, onboarding, and training.Vision & Direction* Establish, communicate, and execute overall vision for coaching operations.* Decide how much of which services to offer based on student need and staff capacity.* Help coaching team evolve and adapt to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse student body, complex campus career services landscape, and evolving world of work.Logistics* Facilitate detailed scheduling and calendaring tasks for our in-house workshops/webinars.* Facilitate decision-making and delegation of workshop requests made by campus partners.* Troubleshoot backend issues related to the Appointments module in Handshake.* Ensure coaching services are recorded accurately in Handshake.* Run and analyze student usage reports of coaching services.* Design and implement assessments of coaching team effectiveness and impact.Resources* Stay abreast of labor market trends and coaching best practices.* Create and update online content such as blogs, resources, recordings, and more.* Lead efforts to ensure our student-facing web pages are discoverable, current, dynamic, and accessible.**Center Leadership (20%)*** Help establish vision, create policies, and make funding decisions with the center director and associate director.* Provide second opinions, thought partnership, and pushback on an array of issues during executive leadership discussions and decision-making.* Facilitate collaborations between the coaching team, other areas of the office, and other offices on campus.* Help elevate and integrate career concepts in various facets of the undergraduate experience.**Direct Service (15%)*** When possible, fill behind coaches who are out unexpectedly to reduce impact to students.* In peak times, coach individuals through 15/30 minute appointments on an array of career topics.* Occasionally facilitate workshops, give class talks, moderate panels, and present at orientations.* Contribute to the instruction and management of our Career Exploration & Planning course.* As needed, help with front desk coverage, career fairs, and other center operations.**Required Qualifications**To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.**Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Department.*** Bachelor’s degree.* Four or more years of career coaching experience, preferably in a higher education setting.**Additional Qualifications*** Two or more years of experience supervising staff strongly preferred.* Ability to foster an inclusive and psychologically safe work environment for supervisees and colleagues.* Ability to give constructive feedback in a warm yet clear way to strengthen individual and team growth.* Genuine desire to seek, receive, and implement feedback from others.* Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally in writing and in one-to-one settings.* Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders.* Experience facilitating virtual and in-person presentations with adults.* Skill in producing brief educational content such as webpages or infographics.* Proficiency in utilizing computer applications and online platforms (i.e. MS Office, Zoom, shared cloud storage spaces, databases, Handshake etc.).* Skill in using analysis (of staff needs, center data, campus developments, national trends, etc.) to inform decision-making.* Critical thinking and problem solving skills.* Experience conceiving of new programs or solutions to meet identified needs.* Ability to plan work effectively, manage time, and meet deadlines.* Willingness to, occasionally, work evenings and Saturdays.**About the Team**The Career & Internship Center at the University of Washington (UW) Seattle Campus assists students from all backgrounds as they explore industries and careers; learn about and develop skills for professional success; secure and reflect upon career-related experiences; articulate their skills and experience to others; and launch post-graduation plans.
