Radiologic Technologist

Job Overview The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with medical providers and/or medical assistants in the examination and treatment of patients in Mercy-GoHealth Urgent Care. The RT performs and analyzes patient x‑rays, applies prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes, and provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the center. Generous PTO: starting at 208 hours annually. Essential Functions Responsible for x‑ray services as needed and for ensuring patients are positioned correctly and protected during use. Patient preparation and rooming: inform technical staff of patient flow, prepare patients for examination, conduct interviews, record medical history, verify purpose of visit, perform preliminary physical tests, conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed, and provide patient information to provider. Administrative responsibilities: maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files, conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up, perform daily controls and calibration of equipment, maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed. Support medical team: collaborate with providers to determine which procedures or views will best assist accurate diagnoses and treatment, and support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly. Patient care: explain procedures, ensure comfort and safety, and answer questions. Patient positioning: accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results. Image production: select proper ionizing factors by adjusting controls to capture clear, high‑quality diagnostic images. Equipment maintenance: perform routine maintenance and cleaning of X‑ray equipment and manage necessary supplies. Radiation safety: adhere to strict safety protocols and implement ALARA to minimize exposure to patients and staff. Documentation: maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems and/or logbooks. Image management: verify image quality and send images to radiologists for interpretation. Knowledge: understand X‑ray procedures, anatomy and physiology for X‑ray testing, and radiology equipment safety hazards. Skills: properly position patients for the X‑ray procedure, identify and correct equipment problems, and follow infection control and radiological safety procedures. Job Requirements High school diploma required. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required. Experience in a clinical setting preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. ARRT registration required at the time of hire. Knowledge Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X‑ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment and common safety hazards. Skills Ability to position patients properly for the X‑ray procedure.
