Job Details Level: Entry Location: South County Lighthouse, National City, CA 91950 Position Type: Part Time Education Level: High School Salary Range: $22.00 - $22.00 hourly Job Shift: Any Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services Position Summary A Community Life Ambassador (CLA) serves all San Diego Rescue Mission Programs and promotes community building, student/guest health, safety and accountability. CLAs support students/guests in their daily needs, creating a stable and safe environment necessary for a holistic approach to recovery and healing. The position is an entry level opportunity to leadership in ministry, and includes tasks such as cleaning, laundry, organizing/sorting, intakes, discharges, mediation, crisis intervention, rounds, meal delivery, and stripping of beds. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership in the facility and promote student and guest safety, while creating a trauma‑informed environment. Provide student/guest services and engagement through appropriate ministry and relational connection in support of maintaining program compliance. Provide administrative support and other documentation as needed. Represent our Mission, Vision and Values and continue to grow professionally and spiritually. Qualifications Education: Minimum AA in Social Services, Psychology, Human Development, Ministry or related field from an accredited institution (or commensurate experience equal to 1 year). Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience: Experience with individuals experiencing homelessness, various addiction challenges, mental illness and/or dual diagnosis (1 year preferred). Nonprofit experience preferred. Lived experience of homelessness counts toward education and experience. Skills and Abilities Calmly and sensitively employ appropriate de‑escalation techniques with residents. Coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully. Exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions. Attend to detail and prioritize effectively. Effective oral and written communication skills. Eagerness to learn and be trained. Work both independently and as part of a team. Provide information to the public by answering questions and requests; regular, timely attendance. Work Environment and Physical Demands This role may require walking, standing, lifting up to 25 lbs, and working irregular hours, including evenings or weekends. Environment includes residential program sites and client‑facing spaces.
