About the Position

Job Title: RN Medical Center Profession: Nursing Specialty: Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, De-escalation training (MOAB or CPI) Must-Have: General ED skillset, chest tubes, drips, IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, cardiac rhythm interpretation Description: This position is for an emergency department with a 12-bed unit. The department often uses hallway beds. Staffing on the night shift includes five RNs and one paramedic until 2300. After 2300, it drops to four RNs and one paramedic until 0100. From 0100 to 0700, the unit is staffed with three RNs and a paramedic. The facility is a Level IV trauma center and primary stroke center. Experience in the emergency department is required. Patients range from neonates to geriatrics with various illnesses. The majority of patients are adults. The patient-to-nurse ratio is generally 1:5, up to 6 rarely based on acuity. A CNA is present with a ratio of 1:12. There is no titled Charge RN in the emergency department. The ED RNs will perform phlebotomy at the bedside. Resource and lead RN functions are provided by a resource nurse. Respiratory therapy is available in-house 24/7. Clientists are also available in-house 24/7. There is bedside and nursing station telemetry with no telemetry technician. The charting system used is Epic, along with GE monitors, Alaris, and Pyxis. No floating to other units is required. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other weekend. Time off requests can typically be approved up to seven days without issues, considering staffing needs. There is no on-call requirement. Holiday expectations may vary based on unit need. Scrub color is any. Parking is free and onsite.
