GENERAL POSITION INFORMATION:

Title: Mental Health Outcome Specialist Job Type: Full Time Reports To: Family Advocate Supervisor Salary: $45,000-$48,000; Commensurate with education and experience Fair Labor Standard Act Status: Non-Exempt Work Location: 521 Plymouth Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA. After a 90‑day onboarding period, this role is eligible to transition to a hybrid schedule of 4 days in‑office and 1 day remote per week. May require occasional travel to satellite office in Pottstown, PA. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM‑4:30 PM Position Summary: The Mental Health Outcome Specialist works to support Mission Kids Family Advocates and families served by Mission Kids by striving to promote access to timely, evidence‑based, trauma‑focused mental health treatment for all children and families referred to Mission Kids for services. This position involves working closely with families, Mission Kids family advocates and mental health clinicians as well as other mental health professionals throughout Montgomery County and its surrounding areas. The Outcome Specialist is responsible for maintaining a database to track outreach efforts, securing clients’ engagement from referral until completion, and improvement in trauma symptoms in clients. The Outcome Specialist will provide case management support as it pertains to accessing mental health services, i.e., applying for medical assistance, transportation to and from therapy, documentation of outreach to clients and therapists, documentation of outcome of services, coordination with mental health providers, and other services as needed to remove barriers to accessing mental health services. The Outcome Specialist, with the support of the Family Advocate Supervisor and Program Director, will conduct outreach and build partnerships with existing and new mental health providers to expand Mission Kids’ capacity to connect clients to evidence‑based, trauma‑focused treatment for all clients referred to Mission Kids.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & TASKS

Conduct outreach to Mission Kids families regarding therapy referrals to assess families’ interest in mental health referral. Work with Mission Kids advocates and families to determine appropriate mental health referral. Conduct outreach to all Mission Kids families referred to ensure successful engagement and satisfaction with therapist. Work with families, Mission Kids advocates, clinicians, and other professionals to identify and remove barriers to engagement with mental health treatment. This may include helping families schedule intakes, ensuring transportation to intake or therapy sessions, applying for medical assistance, connecting to other resources such as caregiver groups, working with clinicians to ensure open communication with families, etc. Collect data on clients referred, intake completed, and completion of therapy. Work with clinicians to track decrease in trauma symptoms by clients after completion of therapy. With support of Family Advocate Supervisor, identify trends in barriers to service delivery and work with key stakeholders for system improvement to eliminate barriers to service delivery. Network to strengthen existing partnerships and build new partnerships with mental health providers throughout Montgomery County. Represent agency, as assigned, at collaborative networks, task force meetings, community events, seminars, etc. Represent Mission Kids at community fairs, conventions, meetings and speaking engagements and speak publicly on behalf of Mission Kids about child abuse issues, mental health needs, etc. Complete at least 10 hours of professional development each year, including at least 4 hours of DEI/Racial Equity. Attend all mandatory staff trainings and meetings. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Experience or knowledge of: Victim advocacy, criminal justice, mental health systems, and working with families who may have experienced trauma Motivational interviewing Trauma and vicarious trauma Multi‑disciplinary collaborative approach in the intervention and investigation of child abuse Medical insurance Skills to: Assist victims in crisis and be able to use crisis intervention techniques while maintaining composure and professionalism. Effectively communicate verbally or in written form. Build and maintain professional working relationships with professionals in various fields. Operate computer office software and other office equipment to maintain accurate and timely records. Learn quickly and work independently in a fast‑pace environment. Prioritize various tasks, deadlines, and needs as appropriate to ensure there is no unnecessary delay to services. Effective and timely case management. Document accurate and timely case notes. Ability to: Intervene with individuals in stressful situations and assess individual needs. Empathize and establish rapport with victims and their caregivers to help them navigate the mental health system and overcome concrete and perceptual barriers to engaging in mental health treatments. Provide families with education about trauma and mental health. Pay attention to details. Organize effectively and in a timely manner. Manage a high case load effectively. Strong attention to detail.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in social services, psychology, criminal justice, public health, and other relevant areas. Master’s a plus. Experience in child abuse/child sexual abuse a plus. Experience with the mental health system a plus. Good computer skills and proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel required. Excellent oral and written skills required. Successful completion of background checks, including PA Child Abuse history, criminal history, and FBI fingerprinting clearances. Valid PA driver’s license and insurance and proof of auto insurance required.
