Description:
The Clinical Nurse (RN) has the responsibility, accountability, and authority to deliver safe, effective, quality nursing care.
Care is provided according to the philosophy and goals of the nursing department.
The RN utilizes Jean Watson's Theory of Caring, Relationship Based Care, and professional nursing practice models.
The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for all patients assigned.
Determinations regarding patient progress toward goals are made by the RN.
The RN utilizes therapeutic professional relationships with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
The goal is to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health.
Care is provided based on the specific physiologic, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the patient.
The RN supports the mission, vision, values, and expectations of excellence of the organization.
The RN shall demonstrate the ability to transfer scientific knowledge in applying the nursing process.
Care that is consistent with the interdisciplinary plan of care is provided by the RN.
The physical and psychosocial condition of the patient is assessed on an ongoing basis.
A nursing diagnosis is formulated through observation and interpretation of information obtained from the client and others.
The RN collaborates with the client to formulate a care plan.
Direct and indirect nursing care services ensure the client's safety, comfort, hygiene, and protection.
Skills essential to nursing actions are performed by the RN.
Health treatment is explained to the client and family, and health needs are taught to the client and family.
The effectiveness of the care plan is evaluated through observation of the client.
Communication with the client and health team members occurs to modify the plan as needed.
Current working knowledge and safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications are demonstrated.
Tasks are delegated to care team members based on their legal scopes of practice.
Effective supervision of nursing care provided by the care team is ensured.
The RN acts as an advocate for the client as circumstances require.
The RN supports informed decisions about health care for the client.
Culturally competent, age-appropriate, and ethical care is provided within legal standards of practice.
Coordination of patient care activities with nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and ancillary care team members is conducted.
Effective communication skills are utilized to facilitate safe patient handoffs.
Nursing care is documented per hospital policies.
Manual and automated information systems are utilized to improve efficiency and productivity.
Accountability to meet or exceed unit and organizational goals is emphasized.
The RN contributes to a positive patient care experience through individual interactions.
Personal behaviors impacting patient experience are understood by the RN.
The RN assists in resolving complaints with the goal of immediate resolution.
Investigations of complaints are conducted, providing information as needed.
Other duties as assigned are performed by the RN.
Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills are required.
All physical duties of the job must be performed, including lifting, bending, sitting, and standing.
Completion of annual organizational requirements for employment is necessary.
