Job Title: Generator Mechanic Diesel and Natural Gas Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel and natural gas generators that provide critical power to a facility. You will work primarily on CAT G3520 units, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently through proactive maintenance and responsive repair work.

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on diesel and natural gas generators to ensure reliable operation.
• Inspect, service, and maintain CAT G3520 generators and similar equipment from other manufacturers such as Cummins.
• Use instrumentation and controls to monitor generator performance and maintain high operating efficiency.
• Troubleshoot generator issues, diagnose mechanical and electrical problems, and determine appropriate repair methods.
• Repair generators following breakdowns or performance issues, including both mechanical and electrical components.
• Conduct electrical checks and basic electrical repairs associated with generator systems.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and any issues identified during inspections.
• Work safely around power generation equipment, following established procedures and safety practices.
• Move, position, and handle tools, parts, and equipment as needed, including lifting items up to 75 pounds.
• Work in various physical positions, including standing, bending, and squatting, while servicing equipment on the floor and in the control room.

• Hands-on experience with generator maintenance, including diesel and natural gas units.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair generator systems, including mechanical and electrical components.
• Experience working with CAT generators, particularly CAT G3520 units, or similar equipment.
• Familiarity with Cummins or comparable generator equipment.
• Proficiency in using instrumentation and controls to monitor and optimize generator performance.
• Strong understanding of preventive maintenance practices for power generation equipment.
• Basic electrical knowledge related to generator operation and repairs.
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 75 pounds.
• Capability to work in physically demanding conditions, including standing, bending, and squatting for extended periods.

• Experience working with both indoor and outdoor power generation equipment.
• Comfort working in environments with periodic exposure to noise.
• Ability to work in seasonal hot and cold temperatures while performing duties inside and outside.
• Attention to detail when monitoring equipment performance and completing maintenance records.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to equipment breakdowns.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with plant personnel and leadership.

Work is hands-on and physically active, requiring standing, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 75 pounds while servicing generators and associated controls.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Brunswick, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
