ServiceNow Architect

DMI, LLC is seeking a ServiceNow Architect to set and enforce the technical direction of the ServiceNow platform for the U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms (SAA).

The Architect translates business requirements into designs that align with native platform capability, establishes the architectural standards and governance that keep the instance supportable and upgradeable, and provides technical leadership to developers and administrators. A core part of the job is the customization decision: assessing out-of-the-box alternatives, upgrade impacts, and long-term maintenance cost, and being able to defend that position to a customer who wants something built.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Solution Architecture and Design
  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of ServiceNow solutions supporting customer business and IT needs.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs that align with ServiceNow capabilities and industry best practices.
  • Own the technical content of design and configuration documentation, including architecture, configurations, integrations, data structures, dependencies, and assumptions mapped to approved requirements.
• Standards and Governance
  • Develop and maintain ServiceNow architectural standards, design patterns, and governance frameworks.
  • Establish instance strategy, environment management, and release governance in coordination with the delivery team.
  • Ensure designs satisfy security, integration, performance, and accessibility requirements defined jointly with the customer.
• Customization Control
  • Produce the Customization Assessment for proposed custom development, covering business justification, out-of-the-box alternatives, technical and security implications, upgrade impacts, maintenance requirements, and a recommendation.
  • Hold the line on configuration over customization where the platform already provides the capability.
• Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to ServiceNow developers and administrators.
  • Mentor and train technical teams on ServiceNow architecture and development best practices.
  • Review designs and code for adherence to established standards before release.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree.
• Eight to ten years of relevant experience.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• ITIL certification.
• ServiceNow certification or demonstrated equivalent platform expertise.
• Demonstrated experience leading ServiceNow architecture and design on enterprise implementations.
• Depth across the platform core data model, integration patterns, and instance and environment strategy, rather than single-module depth.
• Demonstrated judgment on out-of-the-box versus custom development, including the ability to document and defend that judgment to a customer.
• Experience authoring and enforcing architectural standards, design patterns, and governance frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring developers and administrators.
• Experience designing to security and access control requirements, including least-privilege principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical decision makers.

Additional Requirements:

• Federal or Legislative Branch platform experience, including security review and authorization processes.
• Experience with platform upgrade planning and technical debt remediation on a heavily customized instance.
• Experience establishing governance on a platform that previously had none.
• Deliverables are subject to formal Government review and written Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) acceptance.

Location: Washington, DC

Work Arrangement:

• This is a hybrid position, with some work performed on-site in Washington, DC in support of the U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms.
• Occasional after-hours support may be required around major releases and platform upgrades

Minimum Salary Rate: $156,300

Median Salary Rate: $195,375
