Senior Finance Associate – Manufacturing & Supply Chain The Opportunity Industry: Energy Storage | Battery Technology | Advanced Manufacturing Employment Type: Full-time We are supporting a rapidly growing energy storage and advanced manufacturing business in its search for a Senior Finance Associate based in San Francisco. This is not a traditional corporate finance or accounting position. You will work at the intersection of finance, strategic sourcing, supply chain and manufacturing , providing the cost intelligence behind major product, procurement and operational decisions. You will take ownership of detailed bill of materials cost models , conduct should-cost analysis and partner with engineering, procurement and operations to identify meaningful cost reductions across complex energy storage products. This position would suit either: A finance professional with strong manufacturing, plant or product-costing experience; or A Global Supply Manager, Commodity Manager or Sourcing Manager with exceptional financial modelling and cost-analysis capabilities. What You’ll Be Doing Own and maintain detailed BOM cost models covering raw materials, battery cells, modules, power electronics, balance-of-system equipment and packaging. Establish accurate version control and company-wide visibility of product costs. Develop should-cost models for components and subassemblies using market data, supplier quotations and internal benchmarks. Analyse supplier cost structures, pricing, trade terms and logistics economics. Identify and quantify supply-chain cost-reduction opportunities. Support supplier negotiations with detailed cost and commercial analysis. Partner with engineering teams on design-to-value and value-engineering initiatives. Complete make-versus-buy, second-source and sourcing-strategy assessments. Connect procurement and manufacturing decisions to product margins and unit economics. Build financial frameworks that measure supplier performance and operational trade-offs. Translate complex technical and supply-chain information into clear recommendations for senior leadership. Support product pricing and longer-term supply-chain strategy. What We’re Looking For At least five years’ experience in one or more of the following areas: Global supply management Commodity management Strategic sourcing Manufacturing or plant finance Product costing or operational finance Strong experience with BOM costing, should-cost analysis or manufacturing economics . Advanced Excel and financial-modelling capabilities. A detailed understanding of supplier pricing, material costs, logistics and manufacturing cost drivers. Experience identifying and delivering measurable cost reductions. Ability to work effectively with engineering, procurement, operations and executive stakeholders. Confidence working with complex data and commercially sensitive supplier information. A self-starting approach and the ability to structure ambiguous operational problems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Particularly Relevant Backgrounds Experience within any of the following would be highly advantageous: Energy storage or battery systems Automotive or electric vehicles Semiconductor or electronics manufacturing Aerospace and defence Renewable energy equipment High-volume hardware manufacturing Why Consider This Opportunity?
