Organization Vanderbilt Orthopaedics Antioch Job Summary Provides services to patients and athletes who have impairments, functional limitations or changes in physical function and health status as a result of injury, illness or other causes with occasional guidance. Actively collaborates with the health care/educational team which consists of the Director of Sports Medicine, team physicians, Vanderbilt University Medical Center specialists, athletic trainers and physical therapists to meet patient care, outcomes and system treatment, rehabilitation care to athletes using modalities, personnel, equipment and supply resources. Clinical Athletic Trainer - Orthopedics Vanderbilt Orthopedics | Antioch, TN 4249 Century Farms Terrace, Antioch, TN 37013 Full-Time | Variable Day Schedule (Typically 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.) Join Vanderbilt Orthopedics, Tennessee's leading provider of orthopedic care, at our growing Antioch location. As a Clinical Athletic Trainer, you'll work alongside orthopedic physicians in a collaborative outpatient setting, helping care for patients with sports medicine injuries, musculoskeletal conditions, fractures, joint disorders, and post-operative needs. From competitive athletes to active adults and seniors, you'll support a diverse patient population while playing an important role in delivering an exceptional patient experience. This position is ideal for an Athletic Trainer who enjoys building strong provider relationships, thinking critically in real time, and working in a fast-paced clinical environment where no two days are the same. What You'll Do Partner directly with orthopedic physicians to support patient evaluation, treatment, and care coordination. Assist with clinical procedures, patient education, and day-to-day orthopedic care activities. Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless care delivery. Support patients across a broad range of orthopedic and sports medicine diagnoses. Serve as a patient advocate while helping create an outstanding clinical experience. Utilize critical thinking, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills to support clinic operations and patient care. Minimum Qualifications Tennessee Licensed Athletic Trainer (ATC) BOC Certification required One year of Athletic Training experience required Strong communication and interpersonal skills What Makes Someone Successful in This Role? Key Responsibilities Collaborates in establishing athletic training and sports medicine services, plan of care; then coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient/athlete care needs across the continuum. Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's/athlete's care and management to determine patient/athlete functional capabilities within defined activity levels. Continually utilizes Athletic Training skills and resources to evaluate patient's/athlete's functional capabilities towards optimal, safe participation, and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes. Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment. The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned. Technical Capabilities Patient Documentation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient documentation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments. Patient Evaluation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to conduct a patient evaluation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Capable of effectively assessing the relative merits of alternative products or services. Athletic Training (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate athletic training in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Treatment Implementation (Novice): Demonstrates proficiency in providing treatment consistent with physician prescription and established plan of care. Able to modify treatment plan as needed to demonstrate provision of skilled therapy services including progression of treatment throughout course of care, and revision of treatment interventions of goals not met. May supervise and direct certified athletic trainers (PT only), physical therapist / occupational therapist assistants, technicians and volunteers and students. Selects and follows correct protocol for care and utilize evidence based treatments. Has completed at least one year of clinical experience in treatment implementation. Patient Education (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency in providing patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
