ABOUT THE POSITION:
Davies Development Center is seeking an experienced Lead Early Education Teacher for our 2–3-year-old classroom. This role is ideal for a highly organized, dependable educator who understands early childhood development and thrives in a structured, collaborative environment. The Lead Teacher is responsible for instructional planning, classroom management, assessment, documentation, and parent communication. We keep out classroom ratio low: 2 teachers : 12 students (maximum).

PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Be responsible for managing classroom schedules, curriculum implementation, lesson planning, organization, and student supervision during the school day.
- Write and execute individualized goals for students, track formal and informal data for progress monitoring, and participate in decisions to determine the most appropriate educational placement and plan for each child.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and implements educational programs for children with hearing loss and speech delay aged 12 months – 5 years old.
- Maintains all required data on students; parent contact info, allergies, diagnoses, etc.
- Monitors and documents student progress, attendance, and behavior.
- Completes language, listening, developmental, and academic testing upon enrollment of each student and four times per year for parent conferences.
- Participates in multidisciplinary meetings and parent conferences.
- Develops and adapts lesson plans to individual student needs.
- Assumes direct responsibility for students during school hours.
- Lesson Planning and Data Tracking: Turn in lessons and notes weekly using formal and informal assessments; keep up to date data on each student in developmental areas and academic skills; Demonstrate knowledge of each child’s hearing and intervention history.
- Parent Communication: Communicates with parents regarding student behavior, progress in class, and items needed for school; Contact parents via phone, Brightwheel, or email in the event of a child emergency, illness, other related issue.
- Be the primary person required for student supervision and daily needs
- Maintains active watch of students when on duty during class time, lunch, transitions, recess, etc.
- Completes daily amplification checks of student equipment and troubleshoots accordingly.
- Supervises bathroom needs and provides toileting assistance as needed including, but not limited to, diapering, and changing soiled clothes, etc.
- Participates in teacher meetings, all staff meetings, and other assignments.
- Maintain any and all Texas teaching certificate and childcare licenses (if applicable)
- Coordinates activities for volunteers and provides substitutes lesson plans for the classroom.
- Clean and sanitize your room and other school areas at the beginning and end of every day at minimum.
- Make sure student belongings are sent home to be washed at the end of every week.
- Follow standards and procedures outlined in the DDC Teacher Handbook.
- Above all, be respectful, courteous, and maintain a good standing with all patients, parents, and staff.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Texas CDA or Associate degree in a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an early childhood education setting.
- Strong working knowledge of: Developmentally appropriate lesson planning and TEKS and early learning standards.
- Parent communication and family engagement.
- Highly organized, well-planned, and dependable.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education degree or related field.
- Experience working with toddlers in structured classroom environments.
- Experience with individualized instruction and small-group learning.
- Familiarity with language-rich or inclusive early education settings.
Physical & Functional Requirements:
- Ability to get up and down from the floor throughout the day.
- Ability to safely assist with diapering and potty training.
- Ability to lift, move, and actively engage with young children.
- Ability to remain attentive and responsive in a fast-paced classroom environment.
