Neurology - Pediatric Physician

PERM ONLY. - MD or DO - Board-certified or Board-eligible in Neuropathology, having completed a fellowship or advanced training in Neuropathology - DC license will be required. Willing to accept candidates who need to be licensed. - 313-bed quaternary care academic pediatric hospital - a Level I trauma center, the top rated NICU in the nation, a Cardiac and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit - The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and a collaborative attitude. Prior experience of successful grant funding in the field of molecular biology, neuro-oncology and neuropathology is required A record of academic publication in brain cancer is mandatory. The successful applicant will be recommended for appointment as an Associate or full Professor at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, commensurate with experience and qualifications. As the Director of Neuropathology, the faculty member will provide leadership and oversight of neuropathological services in the Division of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. The faculty will work with other faculty in the Division and the Division Chief and oncology leaders to support increased availability of clinical diagnostics for neurological disorders, in particular those that are molecularly based. As the Endowed Chair in Molecular Neuropathology, the faculty member will lead a research team and program to study the molecular basis of pediatric brain tumors in the Brain Tumor Institute. Through collaboration and partnership with other investigators and the leaders of the Brain Tumor Institute, the research program will support improvements in diagnostics and treatment of children with brain cancer
