Salary: $16.00 - $17.50 per/hour

ABOUT THIS ROLE
Work in our day program leading skill-building activities, job-ready sessions, social clubs, and community outings for adults with developmental disabilities. This is hands-on, activity-based work in a fast-paced day service setting. You'll supervise small groups, teach life skills, support individuals in the community during daily meaningful outings, ensure a safe and positive environment, and be part of a team that genuinely enjoys making a difference every day. Not every day looks the same, and that's the point.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Supervise day activities, skill-building, and community participation
• Maintain supervision, track attendance, and handle daily documentation
• Support behavior needs, safety, and daily program routines

ACTIVITY & PROGRAM SUPPORT

• Help lead group activities: social clubs, recreational programs, job readiness sessions, and fitness
• Facilitate community outings and volunteer placements
• Teach job-ready skills through real-world practice
• Supervise arrivals, departures, and lunch periods
• Support members through daily routines and transitions
• Encourage independence, choice, and self-determination

SUPPORT & SAFETY

• Maintain supervision at all times per member safety plans
• Track attendance and daily participation
• Use positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques
• Respond to emergency safety situations using approved practices only
• Report safety, health, or rights concerns to your supervisor
• Follow all agency, state, and Medicaid safety guidelines

TRANSPORTATION

• Every DSP works an AM or PM route, either as a driver or a monitor.
  
• Serve as route monitor when not driving
• Load, unload, and secure members and mobility equipment
• Ensure all seat belts and wheelchair tie-downs are fastened before moving
• Follow assigned routes without deviation
• Report accidents or maintenance issues immediately
• Complete transportation logs and mileage paperwork on time

DOCUMENTATION (yes, it matters!)

• Every DSP keeps track of what happens in the program. Not because we love paperwork, but because good notes protect members and help the whole team stay on the same page.
• Complete daily case notes in Therap
• Track behavior patterns and program participation
• Write clear incident reports when things happen
• Document what you saw, when you saw it, and what you did about it
• Keep it accurate, keep it timely, keep it professional
  

WHAT YOU BRING

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum age 19
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred, not required we'll train the right person)
• Patience, dependability, and strong communication skills
• Ability to stay calm and adapt when plans change
• Willingness to work an AM or PM transportation route (as driver or monitor)
• Ability to pass State/Federal Background checks
• Reliable team player who's ready to be on your feet

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS (training provided)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, and reach
• Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly
• Assist with transfers and physical activities
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
  
• Ability to use approved physical interventions in emergency safety situations

YOUR SCHEDULE

• MondayFriday, AM (7:00AM-3:00PM) or PM (8:00AM-4:00PM)
• Includes AM or PM transportation route assignment
• No evenings, weekends, or on-call

• DSP II: For DSPs who've completed advanced training and are ready to work with members who need enhanced supervision or specialized care.
• DSP III: For DSPs with a year of service, DSP II certification, and completion of a leadership training curriculum.
