Registered Nurse Cath Lab

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in the Cath Lab provides specialized nursing care for adult patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular and structural heart procedures. This role requires proficiency in patient assessment, monitoring, and collaboration within a fast-paced cardiac catheterization environment. The RN is responsible for ensuring patient safety during complex procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and responding to STEMI calls with a 30-minute call-back requirement. A minimum of two years' experience and strong skills in EPIC charting are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures including left and right heart catheterizations, coronary angiography, PCI, IABP and Impella insertions, transvenous pacemaker insertion, TAVR, TMVR, peripheral angiography and interventions, pericardiocentesis, and atrial septal defect closure.
• Respond promptly to STEMI calls with a 30-minute call-back time.
• Perform patient monitoring and support during conscious sedation and telemetry.
• Document patient care and procedure details using Epic-Cupid, GE Mac Lab, and Philips Xper systems.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to plan and implement patient care.
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure patient safety throughout procedures.
• Participate in call rotations including every 4th weekend and 1-2 weekdays.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in cardiac catheterization or related specialty.
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Certifications: ACLS, BCLS.
• Skills in ventilator management, IV starts, PA lines, telemetry monitoring, circulating during procedures, and conscious sedation.
• Ability to respond to STEMI calls within 30 minutes.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• NIH certification.

Special Considerations:

• STEMI call required with a 30-minute call-back response time.
• Call schedule includes every 4th weekend and 1-2 weekdays.
• Work in a high-acuity adult cardiac catheterization laboratory environment.
• References required upon submission.
• No first-time travel nurses accepted.

Scheduling:

• Three 12-hour day shifts per week, scheduled from 0600 to 1830.
• Call shifts as assigned according to call rotation.
