Job Description

Operate rubber tire backhoes and excavators to dig excavations around sewer & water mains; perform asphalt repairs in roadways, and operate other construction equipment and perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to sewer lines maintenance and repair. Perform other work as required. This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience. PLEASE NOTE: Position is open until filled (first review to begin August 24, 2026).

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and three years of experience operating heavy motorized equipment such as rubber tire backhoes, excavators and loaders, trenchers, crane trucks and dump trucks towing trailers; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Emphasis on backhoe operation. Ability to perform heavy lifting required. Ability to perform light maintenance on heavy equipment. Ability to work overtime as needed to include weekends and holidays. Knowledge of OSHA construction standard requirements related to excavations and trench safety. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class "A" required with the ability to obtain tanker endorsement within one year of employment. This position is a federally regulated DOT position and is subject to random drug testing and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Shift

Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; include evenings, weekends and holidays
