They assist doctors in operations, administer medications, and work with specific treatments where errors can be fatal. Organizational skills are essential as nurses face multiple patients with varying needs, health stages, and risks. Being organized and knowing how to prioritize is vital in this setting. Calmness under pressure is necessary for ER nurses, who encounter urgent, life-or-death situations almost daily. They must be able to function effectively in high-stress emergencies. Patience is required when giving care under stressful circumstances. This is especially true for patients who may be scared, in pain, or in shock. Strong communication skills are a must, as nurses need to interact with patients and reassure their families. Families often have questions and require answers during difficult times.
