Job Summary
We’re seeking a skilled Fertilizer/Chemical Applicator to deliver exceptional lawn care services to our clients. This role involves safely applying fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides, monitoring lawn health, and maintaining equipment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and licensed to handle chemicals in compliance with Iowa regulations. Year-round work includes lawn care in peak seasons and snow removal or other tasks in the off-season.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides to residential and commercial lawns, ensuring compliance with label instructions and Iowa regulations.
• Monitor properties for turf health, identifying needs for fertilizers, weed control, or pest management.
• Manage inventory of lawn care products, including loading, tracking supplies, and notifying supervisors of reorder needs.
• Conduct site evaluations and recommend treatments based on turf conditions, diseases, or pest issues.
• Operate and maintain equipment (sprayers, spreaders, aerators, commercial mowers) to ensure optimal performance.
• Assist with additional tasks as needed, including lawn mowing, shrub trimming, spring/fall cleanups, and snow removal.
• Maintain accurate records of chemical applications and daily activities per state requirements.

Requirements

• Valid Iowa Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator’s License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Experience operating fertilization equipment (sprayers, spreaders) and lawn care tools (aerators, commercial mowers).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive a truck and trailer.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing pesticide and fertilizer use.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of safety and efficiency.
• Physical ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Team player with excellent communication and customer service skills.
