Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist)The San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board has an opening for a permanent/fulltime Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) position in the Watershed Management Division. Our office follows a hybrid work schedule, with staff working in-person four days per week and telework available one day per week, subject to operational needs. Fieldwork is also required as part of this position. The office is located at 1515 Clay Street, Suite 1400, Oakland CA 94612, conveniently located near BART and other public transportation.Under the direction of a Supervising Water Resource Control Engineer, the incumbent will serve as the Water Board representative on the Bay Restoration Regulatory Integration Team (BRRIT), a multi-agency collaborative team to ensure timely action on project applications and compliance with federal and state water quality requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for: reviewing applications and preparing certifications for Clean Water Act Section 401 Water Quality Certification (Certification); reviewing Reports of Waste Discharge and preparing Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) under the California Water Code; preparing other Water Board authorizations, as needed; and coordinating with other BRRIT regulatory agencies on technical and procedural issues in the review of multi-benefit restoration projects.
