Polysomnographic Technologist, Registered

Role Overview Conducts diagnostic sleep studies including polysomnography, titration, MSLT, HST, and MWT to support the diagnosis and treatment of sleep/wake disorders. Key Responsibilities Performs sleep testing procedures and neurodiagnostic assessments as needed. Records accurate data for physicians and educates patients on prescribed therapies. Monitors and documents procedures in medical records, adhering to standards such as those from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Maintains technical equipment, troubleshooting as necessary, and understands equipment functions and safety protocols. Supervises students or staff providing patient care when required. Participates in scoring and data analysis of sleep studies based on department needs. Qualifications & Skills Graduate of an accredited program in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or related field preferred. Minimum two years of experience in Sleep Disorders field preferred. Knowledge of sleep disorders, electrical safety, and proficiency with computer documentation. For RRTs, must obtain RPSGT or Sleep Disorder Specialty credential within two years or be enrolled in accredited training programs. Must hold or acquire BLS certification within 60 days.
