Overview For over 100 years, YMCA Camp Cormorant has offered spirit, tradition, leadership, and exceptional facilities to campers. Founded in 1903, Camp Cormorant is one of the oldest overnight camps in the entire nation. The camp is nestled on 80 acres of wooded property with an extensive beachfront on Big Cormorant Lake. We are located approximately six miles south of Lake Park, MN, in the heart of Minnesota lakes country. No day at camp is just a typical day. The YMCA Camp Cormorant offers more than just a job - we offer the chance to make a lasting difference for the youth in our community! Junior Camp Counselors are responsible for assisting the Camp Cabin Counselors with planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills. Responsibilities Ensures that the American Camping Association (ACA) standards are followed Greets campers and parents upon arrival Assists campers with getting settled into their assigned cabin Assists in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their cabins, within activities and throughout camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes Helps lead and assist with the teaching of activities Actively and enthusiastically participates in all program areas as assigned Assists with cleaning up dining hall after meals Acts as a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior Follows and upholds all safety and security rules and procedures Sets a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship Works efficiently and effectively as a team player Discusses any concerns with the Camp Counselor and meets with the Assistant Coordinator for check-ins Assists with evening programs, campfire and leading songs Assists in other areas of camp as needed Completes end of season evaluation 2026 Camp Dates: May 31, 2026 - August 14, 2026, with the week of the 4th of July off. Ideally be able to commit to 4 weeks out of the summer with the potential to work the entire summer. Pay for this position is $213 per week. Room and board included. Qualifications At least 18 years old 6 months experience working with youth CPR/First Aid Certification for Adult, Child and Infant Who are we?
