Armed Contract Security Officer - Drakesboro, KY TVA SUMMARY Guards industrial or commercial property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES These will be outlined in assigned post orders. Duties may include the following; other duties may be assigned by the Operations Manager or Regional Vice President: In the event of an active shooter, immediately respond by moving towards shots fired toeffectively neutralize the threat. Follows all assigned post orders, both general and specific; Apply the use of force rules based on the situation. Employs graduated use of force to ensure thatonly that force which is necessary to subdue or detain is used. Patrols, periodically, buildings and grounds of industrial plant or commercial establishment, docks,logging camp area, or work site; Patrols lobbies, corridors, and public rooms, confers with management, interviews guests andemployees, and interrogates persons to detect infringements and investigate disturbances,complaints, thefts, vandalisms, and accidents; Patrols public areas to detect fires, unsafe conditions, and missing or inoperative safetyequipment; Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure; Performs and sets thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or coldstorage rooms; Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred; Registers at watch stations to record time of inspection trips; Inspects assigned areas and records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff; Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and securitydoors left unlocked; Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, andapprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts; Notifies staff of presence of persons with questionable reputations; Permits authorized persons and regulates vehicle/pedestrian traffic at plant entrance to maintainorderly flow; Drives radio-equipped vehicle through client's establishment, checks alarm and locates sources of alarm; Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence ofunauthorized persons; Assists management and enforcement officers in emergencies; Contacts supervisor by radio or telephone to report irregularities and obtain further instructions; Writes investigation and automobile usage reports. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS All security armed security personnel must meet at least one of the experience/education requirements listed below: Three years of security experience within the past five years. Three years of military or National Guard (active duty or reserve). Associate’s degree or higher in a security-related or law enforcement-related field. Successful completion of a police officer ’ s basic training academy. Candidates who do not meet one of these requirements but have equivalent education and/or experience must have special approval. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos using the Englishlanguage. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts with basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with accuracy. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, ordiagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. COMPUTER SKILLS Some posts may require an individual to know about Internet programs, Word Processing software, or other software as required. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS CPR/AED/First Aid Certification OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Where applicable: State Security Officer License; Certification in the use of weapons State Armed License if required; CPR/AED/First Aid Certification may be needed. Vehicle operators must be at least 25 years of age and have a driving record with no more than one moving violation Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Personnel shall undergo and successfully pass an approved physical evaluation prior to assignment . The evaluation shall show that personnel are in good physical condition, have appropriate endurance, are able to protect themselves and others, are able to effectively use firearms and other equipment, are able to function in all applicable environments and climates, and are able to withstand sudden emotional stress and physical exertion . Annual Physical Abilities Assessment Walden Security shall ensure that all contract security officers (CSOs) assigned to this contract undergo an annual physical abilities assessment to verify continued ability to meet the physical requirements outlined in this Scope of Work . The purpose of this assessment is to confirm that personnel remain capable of safely and effectively performing the essential tasks of their assigned duties, including but not limited to frequent walking, standing, lifting, climbing, responding to emergencies, and operating security equipment. The annual assessment shall, at a minimum: Evaluateeach individual’sability to perform the physical functionsidentifiedinSections5.2 Physical Requirements and6.1.1 Required Abilities. Be documented in the employee’s personnel filein accordance withSection 12Personnel Files. Identify any limitations that could impact the CSO’s or CSS’s ability to fulfill assigned duties. Require corrective action, medical evaluation, remediation, or reassignment when an individual does not meet required physical standards.
