Certified Welding Inspector

Insight Global is looking for a Certified Welding Inspector for a large engineering consulting firm in the Greenville, NC area. Individuals will spend their day conducting onsite inspections to ensure work meets building codes, project specifications, and construction drawings. They evaluate multiple disciplines-such as structural steel, concrete, masonry, and fireproofing-using visual checks, physical measurements, and field testing to verify conformance. Inspectors document all observations, prepare detailed inspection reports, and perform basic data analysis before submitting findings. Throughout the day, they communicate results to project managers, engineers, and other personnel, and may collaborate on resolving issues. They also support senior inspectors when needed, maintain and calibrate their equipment, and travel between sites in a work vehicle. Safety is a constant priority: inspectors follow all safety requirements, conduct pretask planning, and report hazards immediately. Ultimately, their role ensures consistent quality standards across all projects by combining technical expertise, accurate documentation, and strong communication.

Required Skills & Experience

2+ years experience as engineering technician/construction inspection
Ability to conduct nondestructive testing ("NDT") such as: ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), dye penetrant testing (PT), visual testing (VT), radiographic testing (RT) - UT testing most important
Active AWS CWI Certification
High School Diploma OR GED
Clean background and motor vehicle report/comfortable with drug screening
Good communication skills


Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Active ICC Steel and Bolting Certification
PAUT Testing (Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing)
