EPC Core Network Engineer (Nokia) - Onsite (Ridgeland, MS)

We are seeking a Core Network Engineer with strong experience in LTE EPC (Evolved Packet Core) systems, preferably in Nokia core network environments , to support the operation, optimization, and troubleshooting of a live mobile core network for a Tier 2/3 telecom operator .

This role is fully onsite and involves hands-on support of mission-critical EPC infrastructure supporting mobile data, VoLTE, and subscriber services.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain LTE EPC core network elements including:
• MME (Mobility Management Entity)
• SGW (Serving Gateway)
• PGW (Packet Gateway)
• HSS (Home Subscriber Server)
• Support Nokia EPC / Cloud Packet Core infrastructure
• Troubleshoot core network issues affecting:
• Data connectivity
• IMS / VoLTE services
• Subscriber mobility and session management
• Monitor network KPIs and perform performance optimization
• Handle incident management, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), and escalation support
• Support software upgrades, patching, and network migrations (EPC → 5G Core where applicable)
• Work with cross-functional teams (RAN, IP, IMS, and vendor teams)
• Use tools such as Wireshark, Linux CLI, NetAct / Nokia management systems

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–7+ years experience in LTE/EPC core networks
• Strong understanding of 3GPP LTE architecture
• Hands-on experience with Nokia EPC or similar vendor (Ericsson / Huawei)
• Experience in troubleshooting packet core and signaling issues
• Familiarity with IP networking, TCP/IP, DNS, Diameter, GTP protocols
• Linux system experience in telecom environments

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to VoLTE / IMS architecture
• Experience with NFV / cloud-native core (vEPC, cloud EPC)
• Understanding of 5G Core basics (AMF, SMF, UPF)
• Experience working in Tier-1 or Tier-2 telecom operators
• Automation/scripting (Python, Shell) is a plus

Work Environment

• Fully onsite role in Ridgeland, MS
• Mission-critical 24x7 telecom core network environment
• On-call rotation may be required
• High visibility role supporting live subscriber traffic
