Control Systems Technician

Job Description

• Perform assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools.

• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and control problems.

• Respond to basic warranty calls.

How You Will Do It

• Load system-level controller software.

• Perform commissioning and sequence verification on system-level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.) and complete all required commissioning documentation.

• Keep management and the JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.

• Calibrate system components using electronic test equipment.

• Complete administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.

• Document changes and provide information for as-built documentation.

• Communicate with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.

• Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training; maintain a high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

Skills and Requirements

• 2-year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a similar field — or at least 3–5 years of industry experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.

• Two years’ experience installing electronic and/or mechanical systems.

• Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, and peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.

• Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.

• Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Leadership skills to support the activities of mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical Building Automation equipment on a job site.

• PC experience required, including the ability to program HVAC-related software.
