Behavior Specialist
Under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), this position is responsible for collaborating with administrators, teachers, and school personnel to address student behavior. The role involves working toward a model of supervision provided by the Assistant Director of Behavioral Services/BCBA in the school district. The specialist will work directly with students providing behavioral support, push into and support students in the classroom environment, and support school teams to collect and analyze behavioral data to make effective decisions regarding the implementation of evidence-based behavioral interventions, principles, techniques, and strategies.
Essential functions include working under the supervision of the district's Assistant Director of Behavioral Services/BCBA while providing direct support to students, collaborating with teachers on classroom management strategies, and promoting safe and socially acceptable behaviors with identified students. The specialist will also support students in the implementation of the IEP, 504 plan, and Behavior Plan, and help school teams collect and use behavioral data to develop tiered systems of support.
Minimum qualifications include being a licensed behavior specialist, Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCABA), Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), or working towards BCBA, with experience working with PK-12 students and extensive knowledge and skills related to the concepts, principles, and methodologies of effective instruction and positive behavioral interventions, supports, and strategies to address behavior.
